“ I've been getting more and more in the habit of getting bread here. Yeah, they've spoiled me for bread. For health, when I get a loaf, I get 100% whole grain, and Acme has me covered. Before I found Acme, I hadn't found any whole grain bread that made it in the taste department. But Acme's whole wheat seed and their edible schoolyard levain both are flavorful. The levain's flavor is a bit stronger. They're great fresh and freeze well for toasting in a toaster over. Be aware they're not true vegan as they both have honey. For a snack, I don't try for whole grain. I've been varying between the challah roll, the kaiser, and the rosemary. They also make some good sweets - I enjoyed an apple turnover recently. And if I want sweet but not too sweet, the rye raisin rabbit roll does the trick. Staff is helpful and know their product. And all of the breads have the ingredients listed on display. ”

“ Delicious freshly baked bread! Definitely pick some up if you're passing through Embarcadero or are by the ferry building. Their loaves make for a phenomenal avocado toast. There are lots of options to choose from: rolls, loaves, baguettes, pastries and more. Everything tastes great, but my current favorites are the walnut cranberry loaf and the jalapeño cheddar loaf. I've found that their breads last up to a week without getting stale (unrefrigerated) ”

“ Acme Bread Company is by far one of the best bread makers in the bay area. They have an herb bread that we get whenever possible that is super fragrant and delicious. On our last visit they had a green onion loaf we tried as well and it has to be one of my favorite breads of all time. Great texture and flavor. I could eat the whole thing by myself with just a little butter. I always look forward to our visits here. ”

“ Every time I go to the Ferry Building I drop by here. I love their bread. This time I got the olive loaf, the olive slab and the pumpkin bread. I almost never have something here I do not like- although I did not like the pannettone here. It was pretty dry. It's the only thing I have not liked here. The croissants are fabulous. Every single bread has been wonderful (my kids love the epi bread). There is usually a line but it moves super fast- the folks who work here have skills! ”

“ I've got one word: COME. I live for bakeries like this. Nothing beats bread made from scratch with tons of love added. I couldn't help myself when I came to try their stuff. I got a cheese roll, mushroom pocket (at least that's what I think it's called), and some other stuff. Regardless of what your order, I can guarantee that it's going to be delicious. Outside of the good, the service is great. Just be aware it's not a well-kept secret, so you're going to have a line depending on the time of day. Also, this place is located in a terminal building, so they don't offer seating. ”

“ Yummy! Great place to stop any time you are nearby the Ferry Building. Acme bread is an SF treat, many restaurants tout that they serve their burgers, sandwiches, etc on Acme bread and while it is delicious in those settings, nothing beats getting it fresh from the stand at the Ferry Building. They have dozens on breads on display. It is so much to take in. And while the staff is lovely and friendly, they do rush you a bit to decide. It is a bit stressful to decide very quickly without being able to see until you get to the register, limiting your ability to take in all the options. I often find something else delectable that I wish I had added afterward once I've had a chance to look around. So to Acme Bread Company, give us a chance to look, we will spend more, we promise! ”

“ After holiday lunch at The Waterfront Restaurant, my friends and I walked to the Ferry Marketplace Building. I love the various vendors - restaurants, bakeries, ice cream, coffee shops and other retail businesses. We decided to stop at Acme Bread Company. Somebody in the group wanted sourdough bread. With me, I have a weakness for bread. Wow! Carbs overload! Excellent selection of assortment of breads. So many choices and so little time to decide if one is a first time customer, and such is my case of what I want to purchase. It's retail therapy and impulsive shopping on my part. Quick in a flash, I grabbed a bag of vanilla madeleines, and asked for one butter croissant. I don't like to keep other customers in line waiting to purchase baked goods. I did not want to look like some kind of indecisive woman or fickle in the mind. I guess another visit in the near future would be helpful. LOL. Finally, I left with two of my friends and managed to catch the ferry back to Alameda. We made it just in time to board. ”
